Cricket Studio v Horizon Match Report
On Friday of Week 5, the Year 9/10 Cricket Studio strolled down to Ralli Park for a T20 match against Horizon. With the sun shining and captains blazer and baggy blue at the ready, co-captains Seb and Adawynn Hughes lost the toss and the team were sent into bat. The top 6 did the bulk of the work with excellent running between wickets, the batsmen hit the gaps and found the occasional boundary with ease. Top performers were Seb, Ads and Corbin on 27, 26 and 25 before being retired. Iggy Stoddart showed some flair on his way to a crafty 20 before falling in the final over. Special mention to the Netball Studio for cheering on Dylan ‘Doza’ Martin, Hamish Wildbore and Jesse Humphrys whilst scoring their first runs for the team, in the end the team finished on 127.
With ball in hand, spiritual leader Jack ‘Tuna’ Pike forgot he was playing cricket and took an excellent overhead mark to get our first wicket, courtesy of a Brock Hammond thunderbolt. Other wicket takers included Ads and Tuna whilst Brock featured again with a sharp runout. A much improved fielding effort from Round 1 helped the team keep Horizon to 76 from their 20 overs.
Spirits were high, and in scenes reminiscent to that of Narendra Modi Stadium after the World Cup final, Tuna and Jesse led the boys in the new team song.
It was great to see the spirit in which the game was played, everyone should be proud of their efforts, particularly those in the team who don’t play cricket and have showed steady improvement each week.
