New Staff to BHS

Cendall Cowan

Hi! I'm Cendall Cowan and this year I am the Year 8/English/Literacy/LOTE/Performing Arts Coordinator. I have moved from Wudinna on the Eyre Peninsula where I had lived for seven years, working at both Lock Area School and Wudinna Area School. I love working in the country and the opportunities country schooling can provide. I was born and raised in Snowtown and am excited to be much closer to home after living away for so long! In my spare time I like to read, play with my dogs and spend time with family and friends. I come from a large family of teachers; my mum, my three siblings and my husband are all teachers. In 2008 I did a teaching prac here at BHS and can't believe some of the changes that have been made to the programs and facilities since! It's exciting to see how the school has changed and continues to provide unique opportunities for the students here.

Sharon Kent

I have lived in Williamstown with my husband Peter and our four children (Candace, Launce, Briah and Audrey) for over 30 years. My husband is a sub-contract Carpenter and I have always helped him in his business (chief gopher and admin assistant). It was about the time my eldest daughter was doing Year 12 that I decided to go to University and get some qualifications. So I first started Uni when my daughter did, and I studied Psychology, Physiology and Neuroscience whilst I was there. I worked as a Research Assistant for a while at Adelaide University when I finished my Honours Degree in Psychology and then I finished a Master of Teaching in 2012. In the past I have worked at many high schools doing relief teaching and doing contract work - Craigmore High, Trinity College (all campuses), Riverton and District High School (2015-2017), Birdwood High and Gawler & District College (as an APAS tutor and as a teacher in the FLC unit). I have taught Science (all years, including Psychology, Biology and Scientific Studies), Maths (Years 8 and 9), Workplace Practices (Years 11 and 12), History (Years, 8 and 10), PLP and Research Project.

Richard Thomas

Originally I grew up in the Clare Valley region and later moved to Alice Springs. I left school in Alice Springs and joined the SA Police Force and later became a Park Ranger with the NT Parks and Wildlife. Since being a teacher I have taught across 3 different states and various schools. I have returned to the Mid North region to be closer to my elderly parents who live in Clare. I am currently the VET, Design and Technology coordinator and also the Year 11 leader. As part of my ongoing commitment, I look forward to being part of the Balaklava community and school.  I spend a lot of my spare time teaching Martial Arts to young children and adults in the Clare Valley region and Adelaide.
