Spring Concert
Spring has sprung with Balaklava High School’s Specialist Music Program, who welcomed the season with a series of musical concerts in the Triangle in Balaklava. The musicians of Balaklava High School wished to bring music back into the community, and decided to play and sing for the businesses in the centre of Balaklava – and an unexpected bus tour! The Choir, Vocal Ensemble, Instrumental Ensemble, and Our Mix performed 4 concerts throughout the day, alongside soloists Abbey Bubner, Charlie Evans, and Leyla Jacobson. The concerts were a hit with locals, and some dedicated members of the community stayed for multiple concerts. As we learn to adapt to COVID-19, it is comforting to know that music will continue to bring together our community and we thank the Wakefield Regional Council for the opportunity to perform after such a long break from being out and entertaining our community.

Congratulations Abbey Bubner!
On the 30th September, Abbey Bubner attended her audition for the Elder Conservatorium of Music in the hopes of commencing classical voice studies next year. Following a strong audition, the panel were confident that she would be offered a place. On October 15th, Abbey received confirmation from the conservatorium that she had been offered a place in the Advanced Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice. She will commence her studies in March of next year. We congratulate Abbey on this outstanding achievement and wish her every success in her future music studies!
