Where Are They Now?
Life after BHS for Jane Harding
After graduating from BHS in 2009 I took a gap year before moving to Adelaide to study a Bachelor of Pharmacy at the University of South Australia. After graduating with Honours in 2015 (and taking a relaxing holiday overseas!!) I was keen to get back to the country and moved to Port Pirie to complete my Pharmacy Internship at the Port Pirie Hospital. I then continued in Port Pirie for a further 4 years before accepting a Pharmacy Residency Position which has involved working at the Lyell McEwin Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Current job role: I am currently working at the Royal Adelaide Hospital as a Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care Pharmacist.
Highlights of your current job/career: Undertaking the SA Pharmacy Residency Program which has provided the opportunity to work in a range of hospitals, different clinical settings and contribute to pharmacy research. But mostly having those ‘feel good’ moments when I am able to positively impact a patient’s health journey.
Looking back on your time at BHS, did BHS help with your career pathway? If so how?
Absolutely! I had very motivating and engaging teachers who mentored me throughout high school. BHS provided me with a diverse range of opportunities being academic, sporting and social which allowed me to explore a variety of different pathways and keep my options open until I knew which direction I wanted to head in.
